Beyond Hong Island

Nok Island

The Heart of Phang Nga Bay

Bong Bong Island
Koh Kudu
Koh Roi

The Hong Island Archipelago features popular destinations, classical, ideal tropical islands with high cliff back drops, palms fringing white sand beaches lapped by warm clear water. There’s also hidden lagoons and a viewpoint which looks across the entire area.
Sunset Cruises will normally visit these islands.

Nok Island is beyond Hong Island, the journey here has great views and Koh Nok, the destination, is quiet and beautiful.

A trip to the Heart of Phang Bay takes you to islands well away from the usual tour routes and into the peaceful calm of the Maritime National Park. We may see the occasional local fisherman in his longtail boat casting for fish or checking his fish traps, otherwise expect a calm and serene cruise with unique scenery.

Koh Bong Bong is the best destination for a day to enjoy the feeling of spending a day playing and relaxing at your own private island, with a beach.

Sailing to Koh Kudu takes you on journey across the still calm waters of Phang Nga Bay. This is the perfect trip to spend time in a totally relaxing environment on the boat. Eat and drink and pass time with your friends and family. There’s nothing to do except watch the islands float by. At Koh Kudu there’s a nice sandy beach in a secluded bay. During migration seasons this area is popular with bird watchers.

If you like to spend time cruising on the boat and taking in the views, Koh Roi island is not far from Koh Kudu. This is the furthest destination we reach on a day trip, more time can be spent exploring this region on an overnight boat charter trip.

More than a one day trip

Not all of the destinations described above can be visited in one day. To see more islands and experience a night at sea, book an overnight trip. It’s a great experience to spend overnight on a comfortable boat and wake up in the quiet of the morning with beautiful sea views all around.

Around Koh Yao Noi and Koh Yao Yai

The Koh Yao islands (‘Noi’ meaning small and ‘Yai’ meaning big) reach from the Southern edge deep into the centre of Phang Nga Bay.

Both of these islands are inhabited. Small towns of predominantly rubber farmers and fisherman fringe the islands. There are the beginnings of some tourism development with small scale family bungalow resorts and more recently luxury resorts catering to those looking for quiet getaways surrounded by nature. There are some interesting places on the coastlines of these islands.

The sandbar at the Northern tip of Koh Yao Yai is spectacular. A long finger of bright white coral sand stretches out into the channel towards Koh Yao Noi.

The small bay and the giant ancient tree at Kian Bay right at the top of Koh Yao Noi is a serene area of natural beauty.

A short distance of the South East of Koh Yao Yai is the island Koh Nok. This is a small but beautiful uninhabited island with a wide beach and sand bar and trail up to a natural look out. You can visit Koh Nok on a day trip or an overnight trip with us.

Ao Nang Coast and Islands

On the South Eastern edge of Phang Nga Bay is the popular coastal area of well known beaches; Tubkaek, Khlong Muang, Noppharathara, Ao Nang, Tonsai, Railay and Phra Nang.

Each of these long, sandy beaches are safe for swimming and have some development behind them. Hidden in the lush but manicured grounds behind Tubkaek beach there are a handful of luxurious resort hotels. Ao Nang is a bustling tourist town with a full range of amenities providing to the bustling tourist trade.

Railay and especially Phra Nang beaches often feature on lists of top beaches in the Asia and the world.

From Ao Nang beach you can see Poda Island. A large island with a beautiful U-shaped beach curving around the Northern tip of the island, facing Ao Nang. Poda is the first of a cluster of uninhabited islands stretching 5 kilometres South.

Some of these islands; Poda, Chicken and Tup make popular day trips destinations. The Thale Waek sandbar between Tup Island and Chicken Island is especially picturesque.

Many of the other islands are popular SCUBA diving and snorkelling sites as they are fringed with coral reefs.

The Phi Phi Islands

Pass the Ao Nang archipelago and continue South to the famous Phi Phi Islands. First you will reach Bamboo Island. Uninhabited apart from the National Park Ranger’s station. This island looks like a classic castaway atoll, ringed by fine white coral sand beaches and the centre covered in trees.

Close by is Koh Yung (Mosquito Island) but this island is currently out of bounds and is being used for environmental rehabilitation and research.

Of the two Phi Phi Islands only Phi Phi Don is inhabited. Tonsai town sits on a thin strip of land between two semi circular bays, Tonsai Bay and Lod Talum Bay. There are also hotel resorts at some of the smaller bays around the island. Popular areas include; Lana Bay, Ao Nui Bay, Wang Long Bay, Monkey Beach, Monkey Bay and Long Beach.

Overnight can be spent moored in Tonsai Bay and you can explore the island night life of Tonsai town at your leisure.

Koh Phi Phi Lay is uninhabited but world famous for Maya Bay. A must see destination for all visitors to the islands. There are also a number of other beautiful and noteworthy sites around this island such as; Phi Leh Lagoon, Lohsamah Bay, Viking Bay and Viking Cave.

Fringing both islands are also world renowned SCUBA diving and snorkelling sites. Boasting many varieties of corals and tropical fish species from shallow depth down to 30 metres.

Krabi’s Coastal Islands

East of the Phi Phi Islands, are inhabited islands; Koh Jum and the Lanta Islands.

There is very little modern development on Koh Jum, also known as Koh Pu, but there are established communities and a few small beach resorts. The island is a peaceful place to spend some time with a very long mostly ‘untouched’ beach on it’s Western, seaward coast.

The Lanta Islands are larger and more developed, especially the Southern island Koh Lanta Yai. There are small villages across the island and also some hotel resorts and towns catering to the tourists. The South of the island is a national park with walking trails.

Out To Sea

Heading out to sea from the Lanta Islands to small uninhabited islands. Out in deeper water and famous for their coral reefs;

Koh Haa Yai : Very popular with serious snorkellers and SCUBA Divers. Limestone pinnacles rise out of the ocean forming a circle. The centre is a wide shallow lagoon. In the waters all around is an amazing variety of colourful reef fishes and tropical marine life.

Koh Rok : Two picturesque islands separated by a channel about 200 metres wide. A very popular day trip destination to enjoy the undeveloped beaches and snorkel on the reefs.

Southern Island Hopping

South of the Lanta Islands off the coast of Trang province there are some outstandingly beautiful places to visit. And the best ways is by cruising on your own private boat.

Some of these islands are inhabited by long established communities of fishermen and farmers. Some are picturesque jewels of the Andaman Sea. Development for tourism is very limited, on the whole the natural beauty of this region remains untouched.

Hopping between these islands could easily take you days as you drift into the slow pace and style of island life in the tropics.

You can visit; Koh Ngai, Koh Muk, Koh Kradan, Koh Moorakot, Koh Libong, Koh Phetra.
